Q & A
What is Acoustic Wave Therapy?
Wave Therapy is a noninvasive procedure that stimulates new blood vessel growth in the penis, which is essential for a firm, long-lasting and spontaneous erection.
Who is it for?
Most men with erectile dysfunction are candidates for Acoustic Wave Therapy treatment. The treatment is an encouraging option for men who have not responded to pharmaceutical remedies or are experiencing negative side effects. Whether your ED is mild or more severe, Acoustic Wave Therapy may be able to benefit you.
Additionally, some men use Acoustic Wave Therapy for sexual performance enhancement to increase firmness and sensation.
Does it work?
Clinical evidence shows that Acoustic Wave Therapy generates a significant improvement of erectile function, as well as improvement in penile blood flow without adverse effects. Meta-analysis studies show that it has the capability to significantly help in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
What are the expected benefits?
Improved erectile function, enhanced sexual performance, increased stimulation, more spontaneous erections, improved satisfaction and orgasm.
How does Wave Therapy compare to other treatments?
Erectile dysfunction is predominately caused by poor blood flow, and wave therapy is able to directly promote increased blood flow in the pelvic region in a way that other treatments such as oral medications, surgeries, and testosterone replacement therapy can't. Additionally, there are far fewer side effects when compared to several other types of treatment.
Is it safe?
Yes. The FDA cleared this technology that was developed in Europe and is currently being used in the US for the repair and treatment of soft tissue and improved blood circulation. It is noninvasive with no needles, drugs or surgery.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
The first step is to set up a consultation with our medical provider. They will evaluate your current condition and perform some simple tests.
What is the treatment like? Is it painful?
The treatment consists of a total of six or more 20 minute sessions (over a 3 week period) in our Happy Valley office. The treatment is not painful, but for more sensitive patients we offer a temporary numbing cream.
How quickly can I continue my typical day after treatment?
Immediately after treatment. There is no recuperation time required.
How will you ensure my privacy?
Our staff is sensitive to the nature of the issue. Our scheduling is geared to get you in and out with a focus on your privacy and confidentiality.
Is this covered by insurance or medicare?
It is not covered by medicare, but some insurance companies may cover this type of treatment. We’ll provide you with the appropriate paperwork to submit to your insurance provider. Most providers will likely not cover Acoustic Wave Therapy.
